Thursday - 3/19/09 - Virtual Day #1

Welcome to Day #1 of our Virtual Classroom! Today you will need to read all the instructions and complete the activities online. Scroll down to find your class period and please read all directions thoroughly. Tomorrow we will be in Lab 620, not in here. It is also our last day in the lab. Good luck!

2nd -5th Period

Welcome! Today you will be working on and finishing up your research paper outline and annotated bibliography. Both of these are due by the end of the period. You will need to print them out, staple if needed, and put them in the trays in the front of the room. The top tray is for your outline and the middle tray is for your bibs. Turn around and locate this stacked tray (without leaving your seat) on my desk now so you know where to turn everything in today. You will also need to give some feedback about your research project online, so leave enough time in class for that assignment. Here is what you will need to do today during class:
  • Begin by finishing up your outline and annotated bib. Don't forget a sample outline is posted on this website, under handouts. Also, there is a sample annotated bib in the packet given out on the beginning of our research process. A copy of this packet is located in the handouts section of this website. The PowerPoint we reviewed in class on how to make an annotated bib is also located in the handout section of the website. Please email me (Mrs.Lusher@gmail.com) if you have any questions!

  • After finishing your outline and annotated bib, please print out both, staple, and hand them in to the tray. (If this was a true virtual environment, you would email them to me, but for this project I need a hard copy.)
  • Once you have turned everything else in, please complete the following task. At the bottom of this post, please click on comment. You will need to enter in your student number in order to get credit. DO NOT ENTER YOUR NAME. Once you have the comment box open, in a well written, thoughtful, 100+ word response, answer these questions - What is your research topic? Was this topic easy to research, or difficult? Would you change it if you could? What would you change it to? What is your plan for getting your rough draft done by next Thursday when it is due? When you are done answering those questions, please proofread your response and then click, submit. Don't worry if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve and moderate all comments before they post.

That's it! You have completed your first day of Virtual 11th Grade LA! See you tomorrow!

7th Period

Welcome to 7th Period! Make sure you read all these directions before beginning your work for today. Today you will be continuing to work on your poetry project and the PowerPoint that accompanies your project. Please complete the following tasks before the end of the period:

  • Continue working on your PowerPoint. A sample PowerPoint (without the music) is located in the handouts section of this website. You should be almost done with your PowerPoint today. Don't forget to save your music and powerpoint in the same folder!

  • You also need to finish up your poem parody. For instructions on writing a parody, please see the attachments in your original poetry project packet. If you do not have this packet, it is located on this website, under handouts.
  • Email me (Mrs.Lusher@gmail.com) by the end of the period: what you have so far for your PowerPoint (don't worry about the music for now), and your parody poem. This is what you will be graded on today, along with the task below.
  • When both of those have been emailed to me, you will need to then click on the comment button at the end of this post. Make sure you enter your student number. DO NOT ENTER YOUR NAME. You will need to write a well written, thoughtful, AP quality response to the following questions. Make sure your comment is at least 100 words. The questions you should answer are: What is the topic and poem of your poetry project? Why did you pick this topic? Given the chance would you change your author or poem? What would you change it to? What is your plan for finishing your project and PowerPoint by April 1st? Hit submit. Don't worry if you don't see your comment right away. I have to moderate and approve all comments before they are posted.
That's it! You have completed your first day of virtual class! Let me know if you have any problems or questions (via email). See you tomorrow!

  1. My topic for this research project was Robert Frost. I picked Robert Frost because I saw that he had written a lot of works in our literature book, and would have an interesting background. I would not change my poem because Robert Frost was considered one of the greatest american poets, therefore there is a lot of information on him. My plan for finishing the rough draft and powerpoint is simply to start and do a little each day.

  2. 9901630 - You do not have to do a PowerPoint for the research project. You have to do a poster. Let me know if you have any questions!

  3. The topic I chose to research was the award-winning author, Anne Tyler. My research topic was a very difficult subject to compete since there are very few reliable sources that include her. If I had the option to choose a new topic, I would. I would change my topic to Beverly Cleary because she is more well-known and has easier works to read and analyze. My plan for getting my rough draft done by Thursday is to manage my time wisely and work on most of it at home. I will also set goals to prevent falling behind on the deadlines.

  4. My research topic is on the Harlem Renaissance. I chose this topic because I wanted to learn more about the Harlem Renaissance. This was an easy topic to research. The sources I used gave facts about the Harlem Renaissance in great detail. The difficult part about the topic was when I needed to find a critical analysis. Everything else about the topic was easy to find. I would not change my topic. The more I did research on the Harlem Renaissance, the more it fascinated me. I’ve learned so much and it is an interesting topic. My plan for getting my rough draft done by next Thursday is broken down into steps and days. I will use my outline, but put more detailed information between the sentences. I will try to do more research to see if I can add more information about the Harlem Renaissance. I will not try to do all of the rough draft in one day.

  5. For my research paper, I chose the author anaylsis choice. I chose Robert Frost to be the author I researched. I chose this famous poet because I like his poetry and I want to learn more about him. His poems have double meanings and are very deep so I wanted to learn about his inspirations for these meanings. If given the chance to change my author or topic, I would pass that up. I like my topic and author. Some may argue that there is more work for the author analysis choice, but I beg to differ. I believe that there is just the same amount of work, but with the author analysis, there is more direction which makes it easier to write. Having more things to write about gives less freedom, but it makes figuring out what to write about an easy task. My plan for finishing my rough draft by next Thursday is to do a little bit every night. I plan to not procrastinate and to organize when I write on days when I don't have a lot of other homework.

  6. I chose E.E Cummings for this project. I chose this author because i didn't know much about him and thought it was a good oppurtunity to learn more. After all the research I've done I would most likely choose another topic. The reason being because I am not very interested in this person as I expected to be. I don't have a certain sucject I would like to research instead, but I would enjoy something more interesting and exciting. I plan to work on my rough draft a little day bye day to relieve the stress of doing it the day before.

  7. For my project I chose Emily Dickinson. I chose this poet because I knew her works were famous and I was interested in learning more about her. Now after researching the poet, I do not regret my choice. Emily Dickinson is a good writer and i enjoy reading her poems so I can't think of anything else I would like to research. I plan on finishing my rough draft by doing chunks of it everyday so i dont procrastinate. I will most likely be spending a lot of time in the library so I don't get distracted at home.

  8. For this research paper, I chose to do Harriet Beecher Stowe, who was the author of Uncle Tom's Cabin. She was fairly easy to research because she is a national icon. I picked Mrs. Stowe for my topic because I have recently read Uncle Tom's Cabin and I wanted to look in her life and find out what her inspiration for writing the book was. Yes, I would change my topic if I got the chance. I probably would change to J.K. Rowling because she is another author whose book that I have fallen in love with. Basically my plan is to beginning writing the rough this weekend and beginning the PowerPoint on Wednesday of next week.

  9. For my poetry project I chose Alice Walker. Her most famous works are "The Color Purple" and "Meridian". I picked this topic, Alice Walker, because I knew I wanted to write about a person rather than a time period and since I haven't learned anything about her I thought it would be interesting. I probably wouldn't change my topic if I had the chance to. I'm pretty interested in her life and from what I know about her I think I will enjoy writing my topic on her. My plan to get my rough draft done is to work hard everyday in class when you give us the chance to, and to work hard at home. The end :)

My topic is Henry David Thoreau. My topic was kinda difficult their arent many books i can find about him and he isnt all over the internet. If i could i would but i wouldnt know what to change it to i would have liked MLK but ashley took it so i couldnt i think it would have been alot easier. I really dont have a plan because this project is kinda confusing to me.

  12. For this research project, I chose T.S. Eliot. This topic was sumwhat easy to research. Most of he information was simply found but detailed information about his works in depth were difficult to find and understand. I would change this if I would. I would change this wih less annotated bibs because I felt like I was repeating myself a lot because a lot of the information from each source was the same. My plan for getting my rough draft paper turned in on time is working on it each day until then, revising and editing it, to make sure it is well written with the right information.

  13. I chose edgar allen Poe for my research paper. i picked this topic because there is alot about him and i thought it would be easy to write about him. he wrote in dark romanticism. three of the poems i chose were "the raven", "lenore", "annabel lee", all threee of these poems were very good. I would have worked harder and took more time on all of it. Using my outline will help me write my rough draft easy and i will be able to turn it on on friday

My topic is the harlem renassaince poet Langston Hughes. my topic was kind of difficult because there arnt many books on langston hughes but i can find many things about him on the internet and different sites. If I had a chance to change my subject i wouldnt because Langston hughes is a very intresting subject; but if i were to change my subject i would do some kinda of sports writer. My plan is just to keep working hard on it and try to get it done.

  15. My research topic is about Thomas Jefferson, and his literaty works. My topic, Thomas Jefferson was fairly easy to research, his works however were someone more difficult to find. If i could change anything about my topic it would be for Thomas Jefferson to have more of his works avaibile, because his works are more like document then books,or poems, etc. My plans on getting my rough draft due on time and done is to work a little bit every day and to not leave it all to the last day that it is due. Also my plan is to go over my rough draft to make sure it is correct.

  16. My research topic is Arthur Miler. This topic was kind of difficult because believe it or not, there was acually not much information on Arthur Miller. I had to go to muliple libraries in order o find any books that had facts about Arthur Miler. The internet had many sources, but trying to find book sourcs on Millr was difficult. I probably would not change my topic because I do not know what I would change it to. My plan to finish my rough draft by Thursday is to take this paper day by day and finish it piece by piece.

  17. My research topic is about Benajmin Franklin. I chose him as my person, because he's commonly known. He's a pretty easy person to research. I also chose him because he was kinda an interesting topic/person
He did alot, and he's still known today. He's even on the $100 bill! If I could change my topic I'd probably have chosen Edgar Allen Poe. My plan for this whole research project is to be on time, go over my rough draft, and keep working hard to get this all done.

  18. My research project is about the War in Vietnam. I chose this topic because it has alot to do with our nation's history. If I could change my topic, I would change it to World War 2 because I know alot more about World War 2. My plan for getting my rough draft done is to work on it little by little every day and improve my outline. I also plan to review it and make corrections as I go to make my final draft.

  19. My research topic is about US involvement in the Cold War. This topic was kind of difficult because I had a hard time finding literary works relating to the Cold War. If I could change my topic, I would change it to "Baseball in the 80's". I finished my outline and my anno. bibs today. I plan to look over my rough draft and then finalize it by next week.

  20. My research topic is about the life and writtings on Theodore Roethke. My research topic was very easy to look up, because he recently died in 1963,unlike most well authors who had past awayed in the 1800s. My plan is to use my outline to help me towards my essay. That way, I will be prepared for a good grade. I also plan to review it and make corrections as I go to make my final draft. I learned alot about this author. He is great like frosted flakes.

  21. My research paper was about Ezra Pound, i chose him as an author because i liked one if his poems we have read in class, the research wasn't to easy and yet not hard, it was ok i found the infromation i needed even though, his marriage like was not well known, there wasnt much information about it, and no i wouldnt change my author, after searching about this author i actualy got into him and would like to know more and more about him, i plan on finishing the rough draft this weekend if possible.

  22. I choose an author for my research topic. My author is Bret Harte his famous works are short stories such as The Outcas Of Poker Flats being the most common.I choose to write about an author instead of a time period because I thought it might be easier to narrow down the information on a specific person rather than a entire time period. Even if I( had the chance I do not think i would change my author or switch to a time period. To be able to get throyugh this project and finish on time I am going to take every oppurtunity in school to work on it and spend time at home as much as i can.

  23. My research topic was about the author Ambrose Bierce. I thought it wasn't to heard but it also wasn't as easy as i thought. to my mind it is probably easier to write about a time period. and that what i would have changed it to if i could. My plans to get done is to simply do a little bit of work every day so taht at the end i ll have the rough draft.

  24. My research paper I am writting about the 1960's time period. This research project was very difficult because it is asking us to do alot of things that are not necessary for this project. Yes, I would change it because finding a short story or essay that was written in the 1960's is very hard to do just using one internet source. If I could of changed this it would not be this complicated it would just be either finding one or two literature devices about the decade or an author. You would just have to source where you get your information from and you would not have to have four book sources and only one internet source because its hard finding all this information and only able to use one internet source if you dont have four sources. But overall I should of chosen an author not a decade. My plan for getting this done by Tuesday is honestly try not to think and worry about it as much and it will all work out but if I keep freaking out about it I will not be able to do it. Also, make sure I'm no the right track with my outline.

  25. I am not paticularly sure about what the thesis will be for my poetry project. I'm thinking of researching the life of my Poet, and what influenced their work. I picked this subject because some of my author's poems are dark and mysterious, and very powerful, and I half expected their work to be frilly and boring. I wouldn't change the author or the poem, because I liked the poem for what it was, that's why I picked it, and the fact that it surprised me that the author had written such a dark poem made me more interested. I plan on using 'time management' aka waiting for the last minute, because that's what I do. = )

The topic of my poem, “The Tiger,” is the strength and endurance of the tiger, portrayed as a sinister beast in the poem. I picked his poem, and its topic, because I admire the nobility of the tigers and their inherent grace, even though they are deadly predators. I would not change my poem or the author I selected, William Blake. Both are well suited to my interests and as such insure that the work will get done since I like them so much. I have already finished the power point, but I plan to type a page or two each night.

  27. My topic talks about spring and winter and the fact that on this specific day it does not seem like springtime. He describes that it is cold outside and he is surprised by the sight. It was a relatively easy topic to write about considering the weather is currently not within the normal seasonal temperatures. I would keep both Richard Wilbur as my poet and April 5,1974 as my poem. The peom is self explanatory and the message is very easy to come across. I was also able to write my parody with minimal difficulty once I began. As for finishing my power point, I only have the final slide with the sources and the music to add to it. This is because I want to find a snog that exemplifies the meaning of my peom perfectly. Other than that I have completed it.

  28. My poem is My Papa's Waltz by Theodore Roethke. I picked this poem because it rhymed and seemed like a very pleasant poem. I would not change my topic if i could because Theodore Roethke's life was very interesting and relevant to his poetry. I plan to complete my parody then im done with my powerpoint so i will work some on my own at my house

  29. I chose the poem "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou. The majority of Angelou's poems are about woman and obviously this poem follows the pattern. Angelou discusses woman and how wonderful they are. The poem is uplifting for all because it relates to all types of woman. Angelou makes the non cookie cutter type woman feel important and loved. I have really enjoyed learning about Angelou and all her life accomplishments. She is a wonderful leader and role model to woman around the world so in saying that, I would not change my poem. As for my plan on finishing this project, I am nearly down with my powerpoint. I have picutres and backgrounds all completed. The only thing left to finish is my parody. I will finish writing it tonight and then add it to my powerpoint tomorrow and then I will be done!

  30. The topic of my poetry project is Margaret Atwood's poem "Siren Song". I chose this topic because it was one of the last topics left. I'm glad that I chose this poem, however, because mythology has always been interesting to me and Atwood's underlaying tone of dismissing stereotypical women roles was appealing to me as well.
Given the chance I would choose this poem again. I like "Siren Song". By choosing this poem I was able to find other Atwood poems that I found interesting.
I'm almost done with the powerpoint and I don't think that I'll have any trouble completing it by April 1st. I plan on e-mailing the presentation to myself and finishing what is incomplete at home.

  31. The topic of my poetry project is George Gascoigne's poem "Gascoigne's Lullaby". I chose this poet because I thought his name sounded cool because it started with the same letters. I chose the poem I did because there was only like 3 to choose from in the book and this one was the most interesting to me. I'm not sure if I would pick the same poet and poem again if I had to do it all over because my poem is very long. I am pretty far along on my powerpoint and I will be able to finish it on time!

    ReplyDelete
  32. My research topic is Edgar Allen Poe and Dark Romanticism. This topic was not that difficult to research because Poe is a famous and well known poet. His works are all over the internet and in many books. I would not change my topic because it is easy and interesting already. My plan is to use my outline over the wwk to work on my rough draft and finish by thursday.I will probably use the sources from before to help with the draft also.

    ReplyDelete
  33. For my research project, I chose Walt Whitman. It has been relatively easy to do the research on him, since Whitman was considered one of the greatest poets of his time. I also had a lot of previous knowledge of him, since we had learned about him during the Transcendentalist literary time period. Since Whitman was a relatively easy topic to research, I would not change to a different topic. It also helps that he has such an interesting background and had written such aspiring works of literature.
My plan for getting my rough draft done by next thursday is to use my outline that we had created and follow the guidelines. Since we are doing our introductory paragraph tomorrow in class, I will have a start to my rough draft. The outline gives us a good advantage to being able to write our papers.

My research paper topic is William Carlos Williams. I chose him because his poems, such as “Red Wheelbarrow”, in the textbook were very short and easy to understand. If I can change my topic for the research paper, I would because I couldn’t find many books about the author I chose. I would change it to some famous authors like Emily Dickinson or Hemingway. My plan for finishing my project is starting rough draft in the weekend.

  35. The topic of my poetry project is segregation, inequality and the struggles of the african american male during the period of the harlem renaissance. I chose this topic because it is something that everyone can relate to in one way or another. My author was Langston Hughes and i honestly like him alot. I would not change my author if i were given the opportunity.I like the poem i chose, it was fun to write a parody to it. My plan for finishing my project before april 1st is to not procrastinate and get my work done steadily and efficiently. I plan on doing a good job and finishing the year off strong.

  36. For my research paper, I'm writing about the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. I find it interesting to know the foundations by which African Americans fought for their civil rights, and how they have impacted the nation's stratified nation of today. These events constitute key defing moments of American history, so the information was rather easy to come across. It was difficult finding particular writers of the period, primarily because the advocates were orators. Speeches were by far the easiest form of medium to find. I would not change the topic. I plan to continue my paper this weekend with the aide of my outline as a formal guide.

  37. My research topic is Transcendentalism. This topic was difficult to research because there were only few books available in the school media center and those in the public libraries. Also, the time period of this era was between 1830 and 1860, so it was difficult to find a lot of information about this era. But since the authors from that time period were well known, such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, I found many resources using the internet and our literature textbook. I would not change the topic because even though Transcendentalism was a difficult topic to research, I learned a lot about the Transcendentalism Era and famous works and criticisms published during the era through researching. It was great opportunity to learn more about the Transcendentalism Era. I am going to use more sources to support my research paper and make the paper flow from one paragraph to the next for getting my rough draft done by next Thursday when it is due.

My research topic was on Langston Hughes. This topic was semi- easy on the fact that it was on one person , but unlike a war topic where you have different point of views on how people felt or how their lives were effected ,I had one point of view and point of views on people who studied his life, and the actual Langston Hughes addressing his own life story, because of his fame and his uniqueness to literature that marked a new era of revival - (The Harlem Renaissance) it was easier to find his works and life story. I wouldn't change my topic if i could, i learned do much about the meaning of his works , the message he was sending out, who he was and how proud he was to come from a background of such oppression. His life, his adversity , and his dreams. If i had to change something i would hope that he didn't die old and alone without anyone to love and accept him for who he was. I am going to work on my project everyday until i get it done by Tuesday to have it turned in by next Thursday when it is due.

  39. My research topic is on The Great Depression. I definitely had a rough time researching particular pieces from this time. I would find accurate works to use in my paper, and then I'd find out that they weren't American writers. It got completely frustrating. If I were to change something, I would most likely change it to a specific author, although I'm not sure who I would pick. I feel like that is an easier route, where my time period is very broad. It's pretty obvious this paper is no joke. You seriously have to have your stuff together, or you'll be late for the deadline. Thus, I plan on focusing during the class period to get things done, and stop pushing things off. If things don't get done in class, I'll most likely end up doing a lot of work outside of class.

  40. My research topis is about Alice Walker. She is a great writer. She was born here in Georgia. Her most famous works are "The Color Purple" and "Meridian". I chose thistopicice ecause I knew I wanted to write about a person rather than a time period and plus i knew it was going to be alt easier.I probably wouldn't change my topic if I had the chance to. I'm pretty interested in her life and from what I know about her I think I will enjoy writing my topic on her. My plan to get my rough draft done is to work hard everyday in class when you give us the chance to, and if i have to during my lunches. Which of course is a ig sacrifice for me, sinece its about the only time i spend with my friends.thanx!! and bye !! :)

The topic of my poetry project is "The Solitary Reaper" by William Wordsworth. I picked William Wordsworth because I enjoy the way he incorporates the slang of his country into his work, and how his poetry is always deep, and has many ways you could read the poem. If I could choose another poet instead, I would choose Walt Whitman, but only so I could do "O Captain, My Captain!" But since I cannot, I would stick with my current poet. My plan to finish the powerpoint by April 1st is to do my work diligently in class, and get it done during classtime. My plans for getting the paper done are to research more of the Wordsworth and the time period to possibly help with my connection.

  42. My research topic is on the life and works of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was an easy topic because he has plenty of amazing works and is one of the most well know writers of the Modernist time period. I would not change my topic. I am very interested in Fitzgerald. My plan to finish my rough draft is first finish my outline and annotated bib. I plan to finish both papers by the end of this weekend and start working on the rough draft then. For sure I will have my rough draft in by the due date.

  43. My research topic is about Ernest Hemingway. I am excited to research about him but also in a way annoyed. The reason for this is that his life just seems somewhat boring. He got married four times, and then divorced four times. It's just the same thing over again, it's like his life is repeating itself every time he gets married because he takes each of wives to somewhere special (e.g. Paris). I would say overall, the topic was easy, but just a bore because his life does not interest me. I would change it to a better person, one who didn't marry four times... probably two to three is fine, but I am not sure who to really pick unless I know a little of their background. To get the rough draft turned in, I am willing to work at this research paper at home, as I can use the databases everywhere there's an internet connection. I also enjoy writing research papers compared to doing... almost everything else, because I gain a knowledge that I will not lose for a while.

  44. The topic of my research project is World War 1. This subject was very easy for me. Throughout all of last week and some of this week, my Ap World History teacher, Mr.Prill, has been teaching us about the so called "Great War". Even if i could change it, i would not. Since I just learned about the war, all the information is still fresh in my mind. Since we have been taking notes from the World History text book,I will be using my notes to help me get information i need to do my outline. I can also use other books and my online resources to help me. I am going to try and work fast and hard this weekend to get the annotated bibliography over with since i could not turn it in on the due date due to technological errors and incorrect information.

  45. The topic of my essay is the Civil War which was the war that brought the rights to slaves. It was fought between the south and the north in 1861-1865. Many people contributed to this war and one of them was Abraham Lincoln. This topic was generally easy to research because it was a really famous war and many authors write about this war. I do not think I would change it if I got the chance too, because I really enjoy studying about what happened in American history. If I wanted to get the rough draft done by next Thursday I would have to work diligently and not slack off.

  46. my research topic tis the 1960's. I chose this topic because I believe that it was one of the most important decades in the 20th century and many great things came out of it. This topic wasn't as easy as I thought it would be to research it was hard loking for poems. If I could change it I probably would, I would change it to an author instead. My plan for getting this done by April 1st is to just work as hard as I can during class and at home and maintain organized.

  47. My paper is about the 80's because it has some of the most interesting changes and advances then any other time period. If I changed anything in this time period it would be the style of clothing because it was not very stylish to me! How ever i love the way that the 80's was very laid back! I plan on working a little each day to finish my project!

The topic of my research project is on Eugene O'Neill and his works. I picked this topic because a lot of people do not know about Eugene O'Neill and he is a very interesting writer. Some parts of the research were easier to find than others. If I was given the chance I would change my author to someone who is more well-known, like: Robert Frost or Mark Twain. My plan to finish my rough draft by next Thursday is to work on it a little more every night so I will not feel rushed the night before.

  49. My research topic is about Arthur Miller. This topic was somewhat easy, at first I picked a very hard person to do so I switched to Miller and there were a couple of books on him but most of them kionda said the same thing so even though there were alot of books it was still kinda hard. I don't think I would change because of how far I have come. If I had to change it I would still probably stick with an author just because I believe they are easier to research. I plan on working each day and doing little by little so that it is not all crammed on me by wednsday night.

  50. I chose to research Mark Twain, because he is considered the first and best true american author. So far, my topic has been fairly easy to research, simply because Mark Twain is a very popular author. No I would not change my topic. My plan is to work day by day, and do some at home too.

  51. My research topic was about Flannery O'Connor. The author I picked was not that difficult, she was a very popular American author. I have already changed it once from the 90's to Flannery O'Connor, if I had a choice to change it again I probally stick with O'Connor. Getting the rough draft due by Thursday will be hard, but I will work on it everyday to get it accomplished.

  52. My research topic is The Harlem Renaissance. I felt as though the topic was fairly easy to reserach since it was one of the biggest literary movements in african american history.
I like my topic and I would not change it.
I plan on just writing my whole rough draft in one sitting because it is easier to get all out there at once than writing it in sections and taking breaks. I like this whole virtual thing..

  53. Was this topic easy to research, or difficult? Would you change it if you could? What would you change it to? What is your plan for getting your rough draft done by next Thursday when it is due?

My Topic is about a "Great American Writer" by the name of Eudora Welty. She is a very interesting woman born in Jackson, Mississippi who puts alot of thought into her writing and includes family and personal issues into her works. It is a fairly easy but fairly difficult topic as well. But thats what keeps me interested is the challenge of Eudoras work. Even if i had the choice to change my topic, i mosrt likely would no just because i have already put alot of work and thought into this paper and its only the beginning, plus, i like learning about Mrs.Welty, she reminds me a little bit of myself at times. :]
My plan for getting my rough draft done by thursday is going to be a hrad goal to accomplish but i will need to stay focused and on board with whats going on and use my time wisely.

  54. My topic for this research project was is Edmund Spenser. I picked Edmund Spenser because I was online searching for poems and I found one of his poem very interesting. However, there is not much information on him because he was a poet from the 1500s but it is enough information for me to write a research paper. I do not want to change the person I am doing my research paper on therefore I find this poet very interesting and it is too late to think about changing my topic so instead of complaining I need to concentrate on my topic. My plan for finishing the rough draft is by working on it everyday so i have enough time to keep it organized and I also have to work on it this weekend.

  55. I did my project on Ernest Hemingway. So far I have gathered alot of information and aenjoying learning about him. I found great books that go in dept of his life including his childhood and success. He has alot of interesting things to learn about and I do not regret picking him as an author. The only thing ive had trouble with so far is the critical analysis because I have many sources and little information in each which in the end makes my paper. Right now im enjoying this project and hopefully will have time to read one of his books after.

  56. My research topic is Thomas Jefferson. This particular topic was pretty easy to research because of all the information there was about him. Jefferson's work changed America so of course he is a pretty significant figure to the internet, allowing me to gather information about him. Thomas Jefferson is a cool cat I would not change a thing about my topic. I plan on writing my rough draft on a daily basis of 1 paragraph per day, that way i would ensure my finish. Thomas Jefferson is an interesting person who deserves the proper research and time to write about him.

  57. I wrote about World War 2. It was an easy topic because I knew alot of things about the war. If I had a chance to change my topic I would not. For my presentation I am planning a powerpoint about world war 2 and some facts about it. It will be fun because I like history and world war 2 was my favorite war of all and I will enjoy it. From all the other wars I know more than anything else on this war.

  59. The website was informative on how to conduct a correct essay. It first gives an overall view of how a paper is to be put together. Starting with the introductory paragraph, all the way to proofreading. Starting with questions that make your brain think, and open up on how to start your opening paragraph. Next comes the topic and the thesis statement. You have to know what you’re talking about in your essay, right? It explains it all. The thesis statement is what gives an over view on what your entire essay will be about. The research and outline are next. Research leads to knowledge on what the essay will be about, and next comes the outline. The outline is also referred to the guidelines of your paper. With an outline, you hat the basic facts and main points of your paper. First draft you put together as a rough draft, which is able for revisions and editing. It starts out your paper with a base, or square one. Then your proofread, and edit your paper. Making it better and better with every editied. After your revision, your type your final draft and your done.

  60. My research topic was on F. Scott Fitzgerald. This topic was very easy to research because everything was so straight forward and i found all of the books. I would not change my topic because it is very simple and i like the person i am doing. The way im going to get my rough draft done is just to focus during class and im going to work toward my goal everyday.

  61. My research paper topic was on Robert Frost. Robert Frost was an easy topic to reseacrh on and to write my paper on. I would not change my research topic the reason is that I like Robert frost style of writting and the way he talks about his life through out his poetry and how he over came every thing that would set him back in his life goals. My plan to finish the rough draft by next thursday is to work on it every day and do it section by section until I finish my rough draft.

  62. My decade that I did was the 1920s. I think that it was a good era to do because we read the "Great Gatsby" in class, and the Great Gatsby talks alot about the 1920s. I had a great time writing about the 1920s. It was fun to talk about all the fads and fashions. It was fun to talk about flappers. It also was good to write about the prohibition laws and the stock market crash. The 1920s were a very interesting time period. It was not really difficult to research the 1920s because I already knew alot about the 1920s going in to this paper. It was a little hard to find poems about the 1920s, and it was hard to understand how they fit into the modernisim period.

  63. The person i am researching is Walt Whitman. Honestly i picked him because he seemed very interesting as i was reading some of his poems and how he puts emotion in them. Researching Whitman for the most part was easy because he was a well remembered poet in his lifetime, and still today even. No, i would not change my research topid because that would just add more stress and i am very comfortable with researching him. What i am going to do to make sure my Rough Draft done by next Thursday is maybe do alittle each night Monday- Tuesday or Monday- Wednesday, but i also have a U.S History project done by Thursday as well so i'll have to work that in as well. But in the end it'll turn out good.

  64. My research topic was on Ralph Waldo Emerson. This is a very intelligent man and know what he wants to become in life. The topic was very easy because it was easy to find facts. I used alot of details to explain Ralph's experiences. It was made easier when he was a well known poet. I would not change it because other poets are not as well known as Ralph. Also I wouldn't change it because when I start working on a topic I get caught up in the information I want to learn more about the person. My plan on getting this project done is managing my time and working on the project at home.

  65. My number is 9705970.

What is the topic and poem of your poetry project? The topic being discussed in my poetry project deals with the civil rights era. This is the time period where African Americans fought for their right to be treated equally, and they worked so that they wouldn’t be discriminated against. The poem itself refers to the 1963 church bombing that took place in Birmingham, Alabama. Because of the racial issues that we being face during this time, four black girls were killed in a racist attack.

Why did you pick this topic? I chose this topic because it was intriguing. I’ve always found the Civil Rights Era to be fascinating, and the poem itself evoked a strong emotion for me.

Given the chance would you change your author or poem? No, I would not change my author or poem. The author was very involved with the civil rights movement, and the poem correlates to this specific time period.

What would you change it to? I would not change it, if given the chance.

What is your plan for finishing your project and PowerPoint by April 1st? I need to add music to play throughout the power point, as well as find visually appealing pictures for the background display.

The topic of my poem and poetry project is winter and the effects of coldness in a literal sense, as well as a metaphorical sense. My poem is "Those Winter Sundays" by Robert Hayden. I picked this topic and poem because after I first read the poem, I realized that it wasn't very hidden with its theme or meaning, it was very literal, but also had a sense of difficulty in which the meaning of the poem couldn't be exactly determined without prolonged thought. Given the chance, I probably would go back and change my author and poem. I was somewhat rushed to find an author and 3 of their works, which made my poetry project poem somewhat unfamiliar to me. I would change to maybe one of the authors we've already covered in class, one that I know something about, and whose works I'm somewhat familiar with. My plan for finishing this project by April 1st is to sequentially plan out what I need, what I have, and how I am going to complete what I don't have...all in a timely and organized fashion, to make sure that all the necessary components of my poetry project are included.

  67. My topic for my poetry project is Katherine Philips and her poem "Against Love". For the core of my research I am focusing on her role as a feminist poet during her time period, and the doors that she opened for the expression of feminism in poetry. I enjoy Philips' work and her viewpoint on the topic of love is both humorous and insightful. I would not change my topic because fortunately, it is a topic I enjoy. I have made a lot of headway with my powerpoint so far and I know that I can easily finish before April 1st. My favorite part of the project so far is my powerpoint because I can be creative and unique.

  68. 9714219 My research topic was Immortality and war and strife through that period of time it was hard for me to research because it was hard for me to find specific example that went along with his life. Given the chance I would change both my author and my poem. I would change my author to Langston Hughes or my poem to a war poem. I will do a lot of the rest of my project over the weekend.
